I mainly listen to 90s/00s rap, like Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem, artists I'd recommend. Some albums I've really enjoyed:
- The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem
- 2001 by Dr. Dre
- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West
I find the MMLP to be a perfect album, showing Eminem's earlier (and in my opinion, better) work, with incredible lyrical work and flow. He's cocky and violent, joined by some other great rappers (B**** Please II).
2001 is considered a fantastic album by many, and I'd agree. Dre brings back his incredible beats (What's The Difference, Still D.R.E.) and many friends. My favorite song from the album is "Still D.R.E." where Dre is joined by Snoop (one of my favorite combinations in rap) with an amazing beat- one of my favorites.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a very different rap album; progressive rap maybe? Different from other albums coming out at the time, it has a lot of interesting beats and sounds. The opening song has a great, weird mix of stuff leading into a good beat with Kanye's great style and interesting additions and breaks throughout.
These are some very mainstream albums and artists, but I think they're incredible, and a great introduction to rap if you're just getting into it or a great addition to your collection if you're an avid rap fan.
As for EDM, that's a very broad term. I personally enjoy synthpop, stuff like Chvrches and MGMT. Other EDM artists I liked were PrototypeRaptor and Imagine Dragons (I'd consider their newest album to be much more electronic).
