RE272 review and comparisons to ER-4P, HD650, ATH-CK10, IE8

My iMOD + Xin Supermini III with bass boost and crossfeed designed specifically for the ER4s takes the Ety's up a notch. That being said, I now definitely want to hear the RE272. You have convinced me. If I do, I'll post my comparison.

BTW, referring to the other post about the Ety hf3, it's not in the same league as the ER4p or s. I own it mainly because of the fact that it isolates, has a mic to take calls and is easier to drive straight out of my iPhone. It does sound very nice and neutral for $100 however.

Checked the price of the FX700, no longer interested unless someone I know has one to try out.

Very similar, while better.

Yeah, XINs are great with Etys. But, have you tried HM-602 or HM-601? I loved Supermicro > ER-4P/S so much. I plugged it anywhere :) - into 5.5gen LOD, Pico DAC/amp, HDP... Even into WooAudio 3 preamp outs, resulting in kinda hybrid amp :) SM IV has been improving anything, until I received HM-602. To me, SM IV could not add anything over HM-602 headphone out. They seemed to be on par, somewhat similar  (warmth, dark highs) though with some differences. I was interested and going to compare them carefully on vacation, write a review probably. Then I lost SM IV, so I am not sure whether they were on par indeed. Nevertheless, HM-602 has much to offer for Ety lover with no extra amping.

Haven't heard the HM-601/2 but it sounds pretty compelling. I'm still pretty happy with the iMOD.

It's same as RE-0. Seems to be a wee bit larger too.

Tried RE272 with ZO2. It's like they are made for each other. Bass is much more pronounced (at yellowish-green contour) and the presentation is on warmer side. This is gold.

any chance of doing a 272 comparison with other top-notch iems ?

i am very,very happy/pleased with 272

i wish more people would get to test them and see for themselves how good these iems really are

Chances are small - there are few IEMs to consider. I prefer dynamic drivers over multi-BA, so the next comparison may be EX1000 and then... Nothing?

I have an RE0; while it sounds great amp'ed, it's bad un-amp'ed.
up until now i was using a samsung galaxy s ii (i9100)

I have a Colorfly C3 on its way..
do you think RE272 will be better than RE0 on the C3 (SQ-wise) ?
and what about when not amp'ed ?

thanks!

RE-272 is down from the shelf, just spoke with head-direct customer service. (they also removed it from their website: head-direct.com)
now, what'll happen when my RE0 dies ??
