Does anyone know what kind of cable the RE1 uses these days? Is it still the nylon clothed one, or is the newer one found in the RE0?

I bought mine a few months ago and they have clothed cords. They are somewhat prone to kinking, but in fact less so than those of my $700 Final Audio Designs. On the plus side, there's very little microphonics when worn over-ear. Regarding your question, I'll know for sure when my backup pair arrives.

I was going to say I sure wish Sony would add a microSD slot with their players, but looking at the specs of the A845, it doesn't appear to support any lossless formats, that I can see. I still think 16gb is not a whole lot of room for a large collections of 320kbps files.
