Re-ripping to Apple Lossless

Although most of my rips are 320mp3, now that I have the room on my ip160, I'm re-ripping selected CD's (to start) to lossless. Little-by-little, getting it done!

Eventually, I have a gazillion vinyl records to rip (if that's the term).

Yes, lossless sure is the way to go these days!
Especially since storage space are very cheap...

True. He will be much better off using Max or EAC, instead of iTunes.

Because they have ripper engines designed specifically to rip bad sectors correctly (ex. from a scratched CD). C2 errors being one of them

And are much more of a pain to use, IMO.

For me, iTunes does just fine for the majority of ripping. Only when I run into a problematic CD do I switch to Max.

I agree, I use Foobar to rip into FLAC and then convert it lame mp3 for my ipod. BTW Foobar rips in secure mode but it is not a pain like EAC.

PS: can MAX also directly import a cd to ALAC? I didn't found any codec...
