How does it compare to something like "Hostel"? That film did a pretty good job of disturbing me...and it usually takes quite a lot to do that...if Serbian Film takes it far beyond that, I'll pass lol.

It's different. Hostel is more killer horror. A Serbian Film is more wrong, sexually very wrong. And disgusting morally.

Ah, gotcha....okay, that would be a problem for me then...the way you said that allows me to understand exactly what you mean.

^^ just pass it man.its pointless, disturbing, porngraphic and disgusting.
The newborn scene especially shows how sadistic this producer is.why would he even think about this scene is beyond any logical explanation.

I'll take that advice. Too much other stuff to watch.

A serbian movie/Human Centipede/Irreversible is completly different genres all of them. Can´t lump them together it don´t work. A serbian movie is a dark comedy and if you see it like that it´s not that awful. It´s not meant to be taken to seriously.

It has it´s place but Human Centipede is just pointless in every way. It was just so bad. Irreversible is a masterpiece. Though I will never see it again. Hard enough the first time.

Basically at the start of the genre you had the landmark Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho being disgusting and morally wrong.

The genre has always been about adding these outlandish scary themes to get a shock reaction from the viewer. As movie viewers become increasingly desensitized, the subject material has to be slightly changed to still reach that shock level we had in 1960 with Psycho. It's not really about bad taste as if you look closely it's all bad taste, A Serbian Film just goes beyond themes that are morally wrong in our society. In many ways {myself included} we viewers were just the same as the folks who ran out of the theater during the showing of Psycho in 1960.

As a film buff who loves this shock genre I guess I finally saw the movie which was too much. I will never see it again. We live in an amazing world where there are many different types of artistic expression. Definitely this Serbian Film is tied to a filmmaker trying to tell us that "this is what goes on in Serbia", just like Alfred Hitchcock's story was biased on Ed Gein. In the end it asks us to look closer at ourselves as humans.

I can't see how A Serbian Movie is a dark comedy. The tone of the entire film is serious and how there is humor in any of it..I'm lost, dude.

I think  Irréversible and ASM share traits, they're both morally wrong. ASM was too overtop though, where as  Irréversible was a little
all over the place (due to the cinematography), the way that movie was directed made the entire ending climax, quite unsettling.

The Human Centipede is more horror, and comes across that way. I think Irréversible bares the most realistic terror,
whiel ASM has the nastiest themes of any movie I've seen.

The difference for me is that in Irreversible is just the simple story about a guy getting revenge on the dude that raped and beat his girl. It totally makes complete sense. Everything has it's place in the reverse order.

Human Centipede could be viewed a lot like Pier Paolo Pasolini's Salo in showing the dynamics of fascism in neo-capitalism. In reality for me though it's just another mix of Saw/Hostel themes.

The Serbian movie could be looked at as a dark comedy maybe? I have to see a film and watch it first on face value. Many movies can be literally watched having a surreal comedy side simultaneous with being serious depending on how you want to look at them. I will not be making that second viewing though.

The sad part is I'm sure they are making A Serbian Movie #2 as we speak. I won't be seeing it.

Looper - 6,5 out of 10

Funny thing, I was expecting to see Emily Browning instead of Emily Blunt. :/

I thought the ending was...worse? in a way. I can't really say any part of that movie was worse than any other part as it was all pretty horrifically disgusting in every sense of the word.
