Hi

I am researching whether the Lavry DA10 can power the AKG K1000 to good listening levels. I bought the K1000 and have only the Lavry DA10 to power them. I am on very tight budget and dont want to invest in an amp for now.

As per the D10 manual, setting the lavry to its maximum volume of 56 in balanced mode outputs a voltage of 12.28 V rms. Now the K1000 are 120 Ohm. Hence the power that is available is,

Power = voltage * current = voltage * voltage / resistance
= 12.28 * 12.28 / 120
= 1.25 watts = 1250 mW

As per AKG manual, power rating is 1000 mW, equivalent to approx. 100 dB.

If my calculation is correct, then the Lavry DA10 should be able to power the K1000 efficiently atleast to 100 dB isnt it? any comments?

I doubt that you calculation is right. Try your formula on a 4 ohm speaker and you get an output of more than 30 watt.

You could ask in the Lavry forum and get an expert answer.
