Hello,

Do you think that if I buy the soundmagic HP150 from Amazon then find out that I like the DT770's sound better, I can return the headphone even if the brand is not well known (amongst the general public I mean) ?

In the Soundmagic's website, they say that the sole difference between the HP150 and HP151 is a more robust folding mechanism : for those who had/have a HP150, do the mechanism is faulty enough to warrant a 43$ difference between the 2 headphones on Amazon ( HP150 : 86$, HP151 : 129$ ) ?

Edit : By the way, if my phone doesn't support USB OTG I can't bypass the phone's DAC with the dac/amp right ?

If you take good care of an HP150, you should get by with no structural integrity issues. Whether the extra cost associated with the HP151 is worth it is really a matter of personal preference. Are you cautious and conservative by nature? If so, then I would imagine you would want the extra insurance policy the HP151 may offer. If you are more focused on money and price, then I would think the HP150 would probably suit you better. It is a matter of personal values, IMO.

If you buy from amazon, you should have no issues returning a headphone as long as it is in new condition. That has been my experience, anyway

Do you already own the DT770 (80-Ohm or 250-Ohm)?
I'm guessing the HP150/HP151 would at least sound a little better (maybe even more), then the DT770.
(I own the DT770/DT880/DT990 & HP200)

Thanks for your answers, do you either of you managed to connect an amp/dac to a phone which doesn't support usb OTG ?

Purple I don't own the 770 but I tried it, the 80 Ohm one with my phone.
I guess I'll order the HP150, try it as well then keep it or return it if I find the 770 better.

Chances are the phone's built in headphone amplifier does not have enough power to drive the DT770 to it best.
But I'm fairly sure the HP151 is a better headphone then the DT770.
