I'm going to mod a pair of Fostex T50RP and I have a few questions. Specifically, what do the mods accomplish in regards to changing things like bass, mid-range, treble, soundstage, etc.

My following questions are:

1. What does applying plasticine/modeling clay around the driver do to change sound characteristics like those stated above?

2. What does applying transpore tape to the back of the driver do to change the sound?

3. What does applying a damping material like dynamat do to change the sound?

4. What does applying felt to the front and back of the driver do to change the sound?

5. What does applying cotton in the housing do to change the sound?

Thanks in advance.

Uhm...There is a whole thread dedicated to modifying the Fostex T50RP. It would be in your best interest to take a look there, instead of posting a thread like this. The biggest thing about these modifications is trying them out for yourself and finding what you like. Others have spent countless hours trying and documenting their results.
