Any less open aperture would have too much motion blur. If you check out the Exif of the picture you'll see that it's taken at 1/15th second at 180mm (288mm 35mm equiv.), it's hard to go anything further down when resting the camera in your hand.
Plus, I like 'misty' mood it produced. If I had stepped down to 5.6 or more the bokeh would have been nowhere near as clean, it's a part of the nature of this lens.

the mirror lens that I used for the left side of the collage is a pain in the butt to focus. It is fun to play with, and worth the ~80 bucks if you want a super long telephoto for daytime use.

I can't remember to have seen any positive mentioning about that kind of lenses, except the low price, so I was just a little surprised to see a photo shot with one here.
