Very nice mods!   How do they sound?

Comparison is a little difficult, because changing back and forth was not possible. And I used the SR80 only a view days.
 
But my impression now is, that they sound warmer, a little improvement in bass. They are now closer to my RS1. I think the wood around the drivers is better than the plastic. But the typical Grado sound is still there.
 
So it was worth doing it.

I have been thinking of the mini XLR (so i can switch between balanced and not). How are you liking the XLR on the Grados?

I like the mini xlr solution very much. The idea with balanced is great, but than you must use the 4 pin connector. I dont have a balanced amp here, but i think about a Pono player, so maybe I will rework to a 4 pin connector.

I used the three pin connector to stay compatible with the AKG world.

That looks like one of fleasbaby's creations or thelostmidrange, It does look like Maple on top.
