so, my problem is this: Most reviews say the bass is boomy, but my own testing says that the bass is tight and articulate but with lack of bass extension, and clear mids and treble. Hardwarezone singapore's review has the same views as me. So can someone tell me why this is so? I live in Singapore.

Unlikely for a Sony
I have had a similar conundrum with the Shure 1540 , I heard one person (I trust him a lot) said they were rolled off up top but others say they are bright , when I tried them ..they were bright so it seems baffling to have two versions with a opposite signature , similar case with the hd800 as well , the early runs were said to be "fuller and warm" but the later one's are different with better balance and increased transparency so..... although its a Sony who has excellent consistency , these inconsistencies aren't uncommon
