The cambridge audio minx go may be another option.
Whathifi has reviews and comparisons for nearly everything mentioned on this thread.

Head-Fi buying guide actually recommends a number of UE Bluetooth speakers over the rest. I have a UE Boom and like it for the water resistance and portable form factor.

Best Buy will match any price. I like my UE Boom. They're a bit bass heavy but that is good for outside IMO. I hard wire mine a lot. Not audiophile but fun and pretty rugged so far after a year or so of use.

If anyone's still interested I bought the soundlink mini 2 weeks ago and returned it. let me start by saying that this is a great product no doubt and the bass is incredible for a speaker this size, build quality is also fantastic, not something you'd expect at this price. The reason I returned it though, and this drove me crazy was how in certain songs it feels like the upper frequencies were struggling. It wasnt distortion because I noticed it even at low volumes with several songs. I thought I had a defective unit at first so I compared it to a new one and it was the same! It sounds like damaged tweeters I dont know how to explain it.

I have a much cheaper monster iclarity speaker and while the bass was weaker and the sound was a lot less dynamic it didn't have this problem, voices and instruments came out clear and smooth no matter how busy the recording was. Did anyone else notice this? Or maybe I was unlucky?

You know, when I sampled the Mini, I too noticed a distinct sound that I attributed to distortion, but now that you mention it you may be on to something. The song was Rumble and Sway by Jamie N Coombs, but I might go back and check your theory. Sorry it did not work out for you, normally Bose products are pricey but deliver the goods.

You can hear what I'm talking about in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7TtQ0vhYFY about 3:28, the guy's voice sounds muffled sort of. Maybe it's the quality of the microphone but that's what I heard.
