Since yesterday, I've been getting a random "pop" from my AKG K-100s in the left channel only. It reminds me of the "pops" you get from a noisy LP. It seems to happen only when the music gets loud. I don't believe that I am overdriving them; I have the volume on my Marantz 2226 receiver at only 8-9 o'clock. Any ideas? I am using them with the Equinox replacement cable, not the original AKG cable, BTW.

It may be the driver voice coil bottoming out from sub-sonic signals. Can you "see" the driver moving around when you look at it?

I haven't looked at the driver. I'll have to give that a try.

I'm also going to try another amp/original cable. If it works fine on that, than I know it's either the amp or the cable.

No, I have the AKG's connected to the speaker posts.
