Hi my computer recently fried and I'm in the process of building a new one. One thing I'm not sure of is the sound card, I thought why bother ask elsewhere

I'm looking for something decent that will work well with my Z2300 speakers and ATH-ES7 headphones, it'll be mostly for music and some gaming.

Budget is hopefully within $100, is getting a sound card the best route?

I'm using a Chaintech AV710 soundcard. It's cheap (~$30) and also gets a fair amount of respect round here compared to some higher-end offerings

For a $100 Budget I'd say get the chaintech, save and then upgrade! (Can't go wrong with the chaintech AV-710)

Hey guys thank you for the reply. I know I should have searched, sorry.

My computer dead a few days ago and I was scrambling trying to get a new rig up and running. I don't know too much about soundcards so I thought I'd ask here.

So is ChainTech AV710 better than say Audigy 2 or X-Fi Extreme for music and some light gaming?
