I've been reading this praiseworthy forum for a while, I think it's a great forum for picking up sound advice...
My situation is as follows: I have NAD C521BEE cd-player, NAD C320BEE intergrated amplifier and Acoustic Energy Aegis EVO 3 floor-standing speakers. My intention is to get rid of the cd-player as I want to replace it with a DAC to be able to listen to lossless formats from a computer.
I plan to spend on an external DAC about $300. Which models should I consider, in your opinion? I want to buy a DAC which sounds at least as good as my current cd player. I would hate to sacrifice any sound transparency, clarity, depth, localisation etc... I want to emphasize one thing though - most of the time (70%) I listen to music through the speakers, so the quality of the line output is more important to me than the phone output.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
