I got a pair of these for $2 at a yard sale.
In trying these from a headphone jack, the right side produces a faint sound, but nothing at all from the left.
I realize now that these need to be powered directly from speaker outputs, but the question I have is this: If one side is completely dead, are they fixable?

If you know someone handy with a soldering iron, the most likely problem is the plug.  Order a new plug, cut the old one off, strip some of the coating back, and get the new one soldered the same way.

What kind of termination is at the end now?  Can you give us pictures?

If the problem is in the headphones themselves, that can be much trickier, depending on the headphones themselves.

A multimeter? Those're for sissies! A car battery and my tongue is all I need for a continuity check. hehe
One side is about 1900 ohms and the other is open. Got a trade going already, so somebody else gets to fix them. Thanks for the input though.
