Noticed that there are two versions of Meddle on amazon.co.uk. I'm assuming that the Mobile Fidelity version would sound better but I thought I'd check if anyone has made a comparison. Also has anyone bought used CDs from amazon before? I'm slightly hesitant about this.

One of the brand new Mobile Fidelity CDs is selling for 199 quid!

The MoFi is better but it's not a huge difference. The current remasters are good enough, but if I could get the MoFi for a REASONABLE price I would. A descent price for me is ~$45 USD.

Otherwise just get the EMI for $10 or whatever and listen to it, you won't be disappointed.

Even the Redbook layer sounds better.

There's quite a bit of clipping and compression on this remaster. The SACD layer is better than the redbook layer, but there are earlier Japanese pressings that sound better.

For questions like these, your best bet is the Steve Hoffman forums, that where issues of best CD editions are discussed.
