I don't like the Fuze's form factor.

Also I just noticed I can get a 4GB Clip from Amazon for $40. I think I may wind up going the two-player route and get a large HDD player to take my whole collection on trips, and the 4GB clip for everyday listening.

No, it's exactly the same SOC/DAC implementation. They are the same, sound-wise.

The Clip is an excellent, inexpensive audio player. The Fuze is the same, but also a very crappy video player. In the Fuze range of players you can find many better ones (Cowon, Sony, etc), in the Clip range of players there's nothing that comes remotely close to the Clip.

Now that the Clip will have Rockbox soon, it's getting really hard for anything to come close in this price range, and with this tiny form factor.

I think I should mention that the excellent AMS chips powering the Clip and Fuze are designed in Austria, a few kilometers away from my home town.

the clip already supports flac when you update the firmware. Its on the sandisk website.
