Uhm. Am I going crazy here, or is this HD600 significantly different looking then everyone else's?

look closely - read the tag.. those are a version of the 580's.. 580 Jubilee I believe? a precursor to the 600's

EDIT: I think they look way cooler than the 600's

They are definitely HD580s, I downloaded the photo into Photoshop and could read the tag on the side.

that, that carbon fiber look to the frame is soooOOO much better than the ghetto rock/marble wannabe look on the 600. The lighter colored grill adds a nice touch too.

agreed. salad tongs be gone.

why did they choose that cheesy marble look for the hd600? it cheapens them immeasurably. i remember being kind of confused and disappointed when i first got them and tore into the beautiful box, only to reveal a pair of glorified salad tongs. the physical design is fine... just wish they had used a solid color or something like that.

OK. I feel stupid. Should have read the tag.

Oh well, someone write a letter to Sennheiser and tell them to go back to the old frame. It looks so sexy.

Seconded. Someone write to Senn and get them to change back. Good sound is one thing, good looks are another entirely. We want great sound in an ergonomic package.

Nice looking Senn. How about the sound quality? On par w/ the HD600??? I know that it is better than the HD580. Anyone has this?

the only opinions I've read have put them just ever so slightly under the 600's - supposedly they're nearly identical.

you guys are mad.. if you want the HD-600 in the HD-580 frame, hey get the HD-580 instead!!

no wonder audio manafacturers have a hard time keeping a straight face.

That's NOT the regular HD-580 frame, it's the somewhat rare HD-580 Jubilee, it was out before the 600's.

The current stock 580's are nothing special (to look at)

They could make an HD600 Jubilee (or Special Edition/Collectors Edition/Limited Edition/Inproved/Signature Series/whatever....) using this frame. Heck, I'd buy one....

/U.

PS: Get Jan Meier to propose this to Sennheiser. He sells so many 600's that his opinion should carry some weight

I'd prefer the new HD 700 with the Jubilee frame. Good look is one thing... but if they're about to change anything, they better replace the drivers too. I'm eager to be one of the first HD 700 buyers.

Someone had a set of these at the Chicago fall meet.I don't remember who, maybe he'll come forward and ID himself. They sounded really great but very, very similar to HD600.It was obvious they were specially built or at least a special edition. The fit and finish was amazing.
