I had the W4 and PFE232 at the same time. I listen to metal and the PFE232 sounded more convincing. With the grey filters, the mids are clearer, the bass has more impact and texture, the highs are on another level. I had no speed concerns with either iem. They can both handle fast transients. Still own the 232's. They are my favorite iem so far.

For me, I'll go one step further. Actually two steps. These 232's are my most favourite thing I've ever come across in this hobby.

Thanks guys. I need to listen to them myself to really know! I once owned the w4r's and really liked the speed it had for metal but felt it lacked in bass.

They have very good bass if you eq down the bloated mid bass.  With no eq they're really lacking more of a low/sub bass than anything...

I guess ur not a death metal fan then? cuz death metal is all about speed and tightness apart from boom bass. boom bass makes death metal utterly garbage to listen :p

Yeah I'm more of a metalcore guy. The closest I can get to the death metal is WhiteChapel and All Shall Perish which is deathcore I think.

most deathcore album are not neatly made.... specially Whitechapel albums. so more bass = Burawh to me. but try the 232's first. they are one of the best top tires I have heard, but for me I do not prefer them to sport metal... that's just my opinion..
