Philips Fidelio X2?!

Hey so I get these today and I have some questions/issues.

First of all mine seem to be slightly unbalanced with the right earcup being a bit louder.
Secondly the mids and highs on these sound super muffled compared to my ath-m50x mdr1a's and takstar pro 80s.
Does this get better with burn in or do I have a defective unit?

Are you using the included mini plug to full size trs adapter?  If so try them without it... the adapter that came with mine made the channels extremely imbalanced

Nope, I do actually own a pair of X2's and they are not bad for gaming, but I wouldn't call them good. I'm starting to think that gaming = all about imaging...I have Q701, K7xx, X2 and yet SHP9500 does a way better job at gaming.

if you are talking about competitive gaming (like CSGO) then imaging is the most important.
but for games like Battlefield 4 a bigger soundstage will get you a better experience IMO.

Well it does depends on what you expect. I played BF3 with Q701's. The atmosphere was there and it was epic, but as far as direction audio goes, can't tell a damn thing.

If I had to describe the X2's in one word, that word would be addictive. It's like heroin for the soul.

I think I've changed my decission... that 3 meter may be a pretty big for me. :frowning2: I'll buy a replacement cable.

Now my concern is... should I go with monoprice cables ? or is there any better alternative ?
I'm willing to spend around 20 $.

Monoprice, Mediabridge, Kabeldirekt, etc.  Pick one that has low impedance and looks the best to you.

I replaced the stock with an excellent Honeywell A5 Premium Cable (Lifetime Warranty).

Thanks ! :D appreciate your help. The mediabridge looks good ! However, both of them says "step down design". That is that ? O_O

It is just describing the section you hold when you insert the plug. As you can see it steps down to allow the plug to better fit in phone/MP3, etc phone cases. It works great, trust me.
