Philips A5-PRO "Armin Van Buuren Collaboration" (Owners and impressions)

A5Pro box includes only one pair of earpad. But 3 different models have been produced for this headphone.

When they shipped mine, they also shipped two boxes with the other two types of pads.

You bought the A5Pro recently? Mine came without the extra earpads.

Lucky! :beerchug:

Mine didn't come with any extra pads.
And none of the ones I seen for sale included them either.

Depends on what Sound Sig your looking for in a HP

What kind of music do you listen to?

I'm also looking at the A3 and A5s. I listen mainly to House and DJ every weekend.
I had several Sony MDR-V700DJs which have served me well throughout the years, even though the build quality is shocking.
Looking for headphones with a a more bass heavy sig, so it easy to hear the beat in the DJ booth.

The HD8 DJ is a bass Monster.  With tamed Highs, to reduce Auditory Fatigue.

I find the HD8
Amazingly comfortable
Robust
Attractive
Tactically designed ergonomics
Superb sound isolation (probably the best there is)

Packaging and presentation is also stellar.

Hi everybody :)
I've got a Sennheiser HD8 DJ and a Fiio E12 "Mont Blanc" portable amp using everyday to listening Trance Music, Armin Van Buuren is my favourite Dj and I am really interested about A5 pro!

HD8 sounds really well for me (isolation on public transport is insane!), too bassy in few song (may be the mp3 compression) but really love their balance... Hi5 can you do a quick comparison between A5 and HD8?

P.S.: sorry for any language mistake, I'm Italian

Keep in mind I do not claim to be a professional or Audiophile expert.

Newb Review

I do how ever know what I like. And the A5PRO is something I like ALLOT.

Sennheiser HD8 DJ - 50mm Driver        Amazon
Philips A5PRO - 50mm Driver                Amazon

Philips.com
Sennheiser.com

Build Quality & Durability - Tie
I'd say they are about the same - Both Superb

Presentation & Accessories - HD8
Clear winner is the HD8!
Box, Case, Cables, 2 sets of ear pads with Soft Velor included

Comfort - HD8
I find them both quite comfortable but I'd give the Edge to the HD8

Looks (subjective) A5PRO
I Prefer the Aggressive "down to business" looks of the A5PRO

Sound isolation - HD8
The A5PRO blocks sound rather well but the HD8 Wins.
(Although that may change. I have the Mid Size Ear pads. And Philips offers 2 more size options)

Pricing - HD8
Bought them both NEW and the A5PRO was $100 more.
(but there is to variables to really claim a winner)

Power Handling - A5PRO - 16 Ohm @ 3500mW
What?

Sound (Subjective) A5PRO

The A5PRO is my cup of tea!

Ambiance - Impressive Sound Stage - best I've head in a closed back

Analytical - Excellent Detail, very pleased with the A5PRO sonic clarity

Balance -  I find it very good, nothing really dominates over the others

Treble - Excellent (much better then the HD8)

Mids - Very Good (Possibly thin sounding when not properly Amped)

Bass - Punchy, Powerful bass and plenty of it when the track calls for it.

The A5PRO preforms excellent with low powered sources, but really starts to shin with some power!

I love the HD8 but when it comes to the A5PRO "You can have it when you pry it from my cold dead hands"

The A5PRO is My X2 Closed back...

The Ear Cup design on the A5PRO is the best there is, You can change out the pads in a few seconds with a nice twist and click.

Works like a SLR camera lens.
