From reading user comments and reviews... the higher you go up the firmware chain the more focused the sound becomes.  Sharper to some extent.  2.02/3 are more 'musical', softened some.  I like my music razor sharp and butter smooth which the PWD2 2.20 pulls off but usually i have to put up with some trade-off.

Razor sharp and butter smooth at the same time...

OK, I'm going to upgrade this weekend after I read the reviews.  Did you find them on the PS audio site?

Reviews?  God no, the PS Audio site is a mess.  Google, Google

But if your unit can take it... rolling firmwares is free so have at it.

I've since switched to the latest firmware (2.10/2.20) and have grown accustomed to it. 2.02/2.03 almost seems veiled in comparison. I'm not running the HD800s anymore, so that may have a lot to do with it. I'm using coax from the PC. YMMV.

Good to see, but yes, I bet your headphone selection plays a part...same with Solude's.

I cannot listen to 2.20 for more than 30 minutes (in my rig).  There is a peak in the upper mids / lower treble that is terribly fatiguing.  I find 2.02 to be much better balanced and organic. 2.20 to me sounds "HiFi" and not at all realistic. My setup is PDWmkII > Decware CSP2+ > Decware Taboo > LCD2.1 with Wywire and Toxic cables.

Silver interconnects (wire and connectors).  They are warm silver vs cold silver.
My digital cable is a WyWire that uses a standard AES/EBU connector.
Power cables include WyWire copper/ Triode Power Labs copper and Sablon Corona which I believe are copper.  All are plugged into an Uberbuss.

In my setup, I much preferred my EE Minimax dac with Burson dual opamps and metal can OPA627 singles to the PSA with 2.20.  Switching to 2.02 and audio magic fuses, I prefer the PSA by a very small margin.

It always surprises me how many Steeler fans there are throughout the country.  I'm sure it's largely due to the diaspora following the closing of the mills but there seems to be a lot people who just like the organization.

Still loving the PWD, still think it is the best digital source under north of 30k especially when sitting atop a Synergistic Reseach Tranquility Base and using a WW Platinum HDMI from the PWT. Sorry for the awful pic
