I've just discovered the talk of PCI-E USB Cards benefitting sound quality, and I have some newbie questions:

Would any old card provide benefits, or only "audiophile" cards like the SotM or JCAT?

Are there any "budget" >$100 options?

Anything else I should know?

Generic PCI-e-USB controller is not likely to make an improvement over USB port on motherboard. I've tested many years ago.
