Hello. I own a Hero's modded PC350, and a PC360. In a direct comparison the 360 midrange and low end sound more hollow compared to the 350. I was wondering if this is due to impedance (50 ohms for the 360, and 150 for the 350) or perhaps burn-in, as my 350's have over 1000 hours on them. This is all with the same source, integrated PC sound. I know about the debate with burn-in, no need to remind me, but was wondering if anyone has both sets and can compare as well. Thank you.

So the PC350 is well broken in and the PC360 is brand new?
 
Get the Asus Xonar DG (PCI) sound card, $26 and there is a $10 mail in rebate (Amazon).
Should improve the audio quality of the PC360, at least a little.

Yes, the 350 is well broken in, and the 360 new. Yeah, I was thinking about a sound card, but my integrated sound is noticeably better than my last board, so I wasn't sure it would make much difference. If anyone else wants to chime in, feel free.

Definately get a sound card; onboard audio can be horrible

New motherboard: MSI Z77-GD65 gaming
Old one: Biostar P55 CFX-SLI
 
The difference isn't massive, but it was noticeable going from old board to new. So hopefully they're making integrated sound better. Also haven't used a sound card in years due to minimal perceptible difference. I have an old Omega Claro gathering dust somewhere.

Your current audio chip-set is Realtek ALC898, which I guess is the second best Realtek audio chip-set.
The Realtek ALC1150 being the best/newest.
 
Looks like MSI put up a new audio driver/software just two days ago, maybe try the updated drivers.

So if you were going to get an add-on internal sound card, the Creative Sound Blaster Z (SB1500), $100, would seem the cheapest amount to spend.
