Can someone please recommend to me some open-back headphones for rock music in the $150-$250 range? I didn't like the Sennheiser HD 598 for rock music, so nothing that sounds the same as that. I want the guitars and drums to be louder than what the HD 598's do

You might check out the Philips Fidelio X2 and see what you think. It will have more kick than the 598 and better bass extension. I think it might just work for you.

Grado SR80e,pretty easy to drive, with quite fwd guitars and decent midbass.

If you have a good HP amp Id suggest an AKG K240 sextett...the best rock HP I have heard to date.

The Fidelio suggested above has very heavy midbass slam, but the mids are too recessed for rock IMO,YMMV.

Grado sr80e are very aggressive sounding, quite bright. Probably decent for rock i suppose and good price. i use Yamaha hph200 which are open ear ON ear headphones. They are a master of all trades and very natural
