Hi cmarti, can you do a list of items needed to get to a 1TM msata with a 2000Ma batt. from a 7th. gen Ipod. I have been waiting with a collection of 5K plus CD's since the beginning of time to load on my ipods. No MP3 for this old geek.

Build your own Terapod.

I had a PM asking about the parts list, so I assembled this.

Here is a full list of a thin U2 build:

1. Face plate and thin back with red clickwheel

2. Mini PCE-I mSata to zif adapter

3. Headphone and hold switch for 5th gen

4. Bezel 5th gen

6. Ribbon cable
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F8FZ5AM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
7. Battery. If you get a thick back plate, you can get the miliamp 850mAh battery instead, and some say it will last longer between charges. You can order a 900mAh thin battery, but I've not had good luck with them.

@dr408517 - Thanks for the list. +rep

Your work is awesome. When I don't have my iMod in my ALO Black Star Amp wallet, I like to use the same case. However it's a very very tight fit since my iMod also has a Zagg Invisiblesheld on it. I've already broken one case and sadly that clear hard plastic case is getting hard to find now days :frowning2:

Dr408517 -  thanks for the info, you guys are off the hook. I'm so sorry I did not know about this site until a few months ago.

I have the adapter on order from Tarkan and will get the 1T Samsung EVO next week. I'm going for the thick back for the batt. so the U2 package adds a nice touch, I'm sold.

Question. Is there a reason why 5th. Gen. is mentioned more often than rest, some technical reason?

Thanks.

Until Tarkan announced his adapter, no mSata would work with the 7th Gen ipods. I'm going to test it, but since an ipod that big really requires RockBox, i'm not sure if you gain anything using the 7th gen. Plus, the DAC on the ipod video is awesome.

Has anyone tried using this CF-SD adapter for a 256GB SDXC card?

I'm looking to buy that and this ZIF-CF adapter...

has anyone tried this setup yet with a 256GB SDXC card? I've only seen reviews for people using up to 128gb.

thanks.

I don't see any material difference between Tarkan's mSata adapter and the "Green" adapter, it really depend on the mSATA SSD model. The Samsung mSATA SSD worked for 7th Gen iPod because the 7th classic uses Samsung processor, which I believe share the same or similiar ATA hard drive IP core with their SSD.

The 7th gen is better on battery life. I logged 90hrs of continuous music playback with 2000mAh battery, an 16hrs with stock 550mAh battery.
