Thinking about adding headphone and music to my office set up.

I have a desktop right now, that's it. Crapping sound card, useless.

Budget is $300-$400. New or used doesn't matter. Headphone is Audio-technica ATH-M50. I only listen to classical music.

A couple of ways :

1) An USB DAC + headphone amp or a combo of this. I can do tube but I don't mind SS either as long as it sounds good.

2) Forget about my computer and buy a Squeezebox Touch. I have a lot of exp with SBT at home and I love it so by doing this I keep it completely separate. I'll just use the headphone jet of SBT for now.

Would love to hear the expeience of the folks here. I'm from Canada but I'm travelling to US (Orlando) so maybe able to buy something nice with a lower price there.

Thanks !!!

Well i am more in favour of something you could use in the office and everywhere else so if you feel the same then a portable DAC that runs on battery power might be a good idea
