Hopefully you can help me without knowing specifically about my integrated stereo amp (Cambridge azur 540a). I'm wanting to output 5 stereo sources from the Cambridge to a headphone amp (likely an EF2). When outputting signal via the pre-out, the amp still outputs to the speakers or its headphone out.
Should there be a way to output via the pre-out without outputting to the speakers/headphone? I don't want to have to unwire the speakers every time I use the headphone amp. If not, the simplest way to remedy this seems to be putting a 1/4 adapter in the Cambridge headphone out. Would the Cambridge signal be degraded by going out both the pre-out and the headphone out simultaneously?
Also, kind of a sidenote, generally what would be best to have the stereo amp's volume at when outputting to a headphone amp? 9-12 o'clock?
Thanks for any help.
