Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Sep 27, 2016 at 11:33 AM Post #22,186 of 36,121
Hi Brannan and John,

I bought a 3C a little over a year ago. I was wondering if it is possible to get an engraving of the Noble logo over the faceplate?

Help is much appreciated!

Kevin

Buy the best and only cry once. You're both in for a treat!

I wish I did that... I bought 4 different sets before my K10s but I guess that is nowhere near what other people have bought! Did the same with my over ear gear but now I have settled on Ether Flows with a Gumby/Mjo2 stack so that is me done, for now!

Sibilance is my worst enemy to be honest as I can't tolerate a lot of it. So I feel the Trident might not suit my ears then. No doubt K10 is going to be wonderful but its out of my price bracket at the moment. Maybe next time when I have a thicker wallet lol.

Considering how I am stuck with a terribly boomy-bassed MDRXB50AP at the moment, it feels like anything would be a significant upgrade.

Well, frankly, if you're sensitive to sibilance, I'd suggest that you try some of the other models in the Noble lineup instead. Seeing that you're currently using a Sony XB IEM, you could definitely consider the Dulce Bass. The latter's lows aren't as heavy and boomy as that of the XB model, but you're getting some mighty fine and prominent low-end punch with the Dulce Bass.

Nevertheless, if you like K10's sound signature, you could also give the Savant a try. The Noble lineup is rather extensive, and it definitely caters to a wide variety of tastes.

Happy hunting.

Well, I believe that the journey is actually very important. The K10, in a vacuum, is superb, but I could never truly appreciate its strengths without first trying (or buying) other equipment. It allows me to better enjoy the K10, knowing how many steps ahead it stands apart from most of its competition.

Very good point! Don't know what you are getting relatively until you try other things

Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. :D

To be honest, I think it's not just my current XB IEM that's grating on my ears with the horrible sibilance on the mids and terrible sense of treble as the cost of getting all those "boom boom" bass, but from my source as well, so I figured if I can't go all the way to a better IEM, maybe I should settle for a better source first?

My current source is a Fiio X1 paired with an E12A Mont Blanc amplifier, which has done quite a good job so far to make the XB sound smoother, but didn't do much in improving the mids and treble thanks to its boomy bass nature... =(

The bass has gotten a lot smoother though after being bed the amplifier with bass-boost turned off.

And on low gain it's actually rather okay sounding on all frequencies, but probably this has to do with burn in effect as well since I've been using them for months.

I am thinking of considering the Cayin N5 though...since it sounded to my ears a lot more musical than Fiio X5 2nd Gen.

Anyway, back on topic a bit...

I am not sure if anyone's mentioned this before but I see a slightly cheaper alternative but still a bit pricier than the Trident.

Anyone got any thoughts or impressions on the Savannah?

Does the  katana universal  sound any different  from the customs ?

Yes and no.

The Universal will more than likely insert and terminate within the ear at a different location/depth than a CIEM.  Also the tip material of the IEM is comprised of silicone/rubber, which has different rarefaction properties than the tip of a acrylic CIEM.

Those differences would in theory cause a difference in sound, at the point of the ear drum.   If those differences are noticeable, that would be determined by the user, further more, if one sounds better (universal vs CIEM) that would also be determined by the user.

There will be those that insist that CIEM sound better.....    but there is no objective data to support that statement.

Some people purchase universals, as they offer:

Easy to insert

the ability to pull universals out fast

the ability to share the sound quality among friends,

stable re-sale value

Faster delivery of product

No ear mold impressions required

CIEMs on the other hand

Once you have them, no more ear tips are required

Getting a k10u to demo and see what the fuzz is about, I'll have it for 5 days so I will let myself get burned it as much as I can, luckily 3 days off work this week.

Curious to see its stack up against Empire ears zeus, se846, Angie, and a few full size headphones (sorry I compare anything with drivers on it, I use both to listen to music, i often find iems to give better sound quality, expecially imaging)

I will post impressions after extensive comparisons and enjoying hours

To be Clear

Noble does not, issue/furnish demo products, thereby the above mentioned K10 U is a used product, we do not know the history of the product, nor can we vouch for the condition of the product.

That being said, I am happy to announce, about 13 hrs ago, the Noble Kaiser 10, received its 25th consecutive Five star review.

Yes it is a used model, from another audio loving friend of mine, he has had it since March of this year, I sure hope it's still in good condition since it's just some months old. I don't hear any quality issues regarding the k10 line so I'm sure.

Let's see about that sound, heard mixed reviews, I'm excited tho

I'm looking at the K10Us. Been through IE800 and SE846 recently, and the SE846 is a bit too dark for me (recessed highs), and resolution/clarity is a bit lacking, but I like the punchy, deep bass and sweet mids. IE800 sonically is very good (perhaps a tad too much treble), but the design is too bad (non detachable cables at the buds) and the isolation is not that great. Ideally I want something like the SE846 but with a bit more treble and clarity, but not bright (still lush) and with a slight emphasis in bass/mid-bass, kind of a love child between the SE846 and IE800 in a way.

My question is, is the K10Us like that? And if so, how does the K10Us fit in terms of comfort for prolonged periods, because I'll be using them daily for hours. And what are the general consensus on the custom K10 model vs the universal K10U model? Are there any sonic differences (I've heard people saying the metal casing makes them brighter...)? If the fit of the universals are great (obviously customs could be better, but I'm fine with good universal fit) and they sound the same, I would prefer the K10U model since no need to get impressions + faster ship time + easier return/resell. Thanks in advance!

There is a head fi member by the name of Chodi, that has both the e846 and K10 UA you may be able to PM your question regarding those two products.
