It seems that the NH-14WM is "stuck" at 1400mah and has been for a number of years. AA NiMH batteries have been slowly increasing in capacity and can be had at 2500mah.

Is the "gumstick" lagging behind the technology?

i would figure it's because very very few electronics use that style of battery. hell it took them a while to increase the capacity of aa's over the years considering how long they have been around.
