Hello,
 
I am new to these forums and the headphone world. I've been browsing around a bit and I can definitely say that you guys know your stuff so I would like to ask for some advice. I'm looking for some new headphones that will fit my needs.
 
1. Portable. I won't be using any other headphones so I'll be going around with these.
 
2. Good isolation. I believe I want closed headphones?
 
3. Really good bass. I just love bass lol, please dont hate me.
 
4. Under $80.
 
After reading some threads, I think the HD 228 would fit my needs, but I just wanted to make sure.

JVC HA-M750 or some other JVC.  If you can stretch your budget the ATH-M50 are quite good.

I don't know about the HA-M750's personally, but the HA-RX900's are very nice if you are looking for something with some bass.

I currently have the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and they are pretty good for that price range.  The bass is ok but not the very best.  The isolation is VERY good IMO.  I can listen to music at night without disturbing my wife at all unless I turn it WAY up.  Overall for that price range I have been pretty happy with them (I have had them about 2 years now).  They also fold up to make them slightly smaller and easier to carry.

X2 on HD 228. If you prefer over-ears cans, you may consider HD 418 or HD 428.

The HD 228 will not give you good isolation. I agree that your best bet is to stretch your budget just a little bit and try the ATH-M50.
