Those pictures of the SR-307 and SR-407 have a very familiar look about them, I wonder how different they sound.

Since Stax have revamped all their lambdas I wonder if they're finally going to release their replacement for the SR-003, or perhaps an upgraded SR-007.

Your wish about revamped SR-007 might be realized soon: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/223263/the-stax-thread-new/14160#post_6985616 . From the looks, this is not an mk-III, rather an SR Omega III !! Now, that is getting interesting...

You can be sure that the new flagship headphones will be priced at $3500 or more.

I hope you're not right about that one. However it seems to be happening quite often nowadays.

I certainly agree with that guess. From the looks of the prototype, it seems like Stax is after redefining what 3 grands is really all about in a headphone. The Edition 10 title for most expensive in production can will be shortlived... And somehow, I've got good vibes about the Stax redefining what 3kUSD really can provide soundwise...
Well, still hoping we're wrong on the price though...

They do use some of the SR-007Mk2/A parts but the drivers look very different so I'd guess a MSRP of 300k+Yen wouldn't be too far off.

spritzer, that's great...wondering...where did you purchase these from?

Anyone know the best stax US retailer for the 207, 307, 407??  Or are all US retailers the LAST to get 'em?

I'm getting them from Japan, through KuboTen.

I trust it you're also getting a pair of these to take apart? We're all keenly awaiting your impressions!

Sorry to hear that. I had the same sort of trouble with my humble 404LE.
