Yup, our beloved Eggos have returned with enhanced features, but is NC something that is desirable on a headphone like this?

Very interesting. I like those canal phones with the removable piece. Great pair for the gym and not to expensive at all.

bah, i'm still miffed that the eggos were re-designed...old-skool eggos all the way!

oddly enough, i like the white D333 -- reminds me of the sought-after D11W...

I hope D333/D777 make it to the US. Looks like the housings have a little edge to them now, so they'll look a little bit less funny?

What's with the noise cancellation technology? Trying to compete with Bose QC2's?

-And thank you for the link, blazer78.

Sorry to burst the noise-cancellation bubble, but there is no active NC circuitry on the MDR-D777SL. In fact, there is no provision at all whatsoever for a battery to power such a circuit. Instead, the switch on the MDR-D777SL simply closes (or opens) a vent on the earcups, much like the one on the MDR-XD### series headphones.

A phone with a switch that goes from open to closed? Nuts!

Can you really change an open to a closed phone by the push of a button?

The MDR-D777SL doesn't have the D333LW's cord retraction does it? If you combined those two, I think I'd have a winner. Really like the look of the 777s and would appreciate the flexibility of the open/closed system, and the cord retraction of the 333s is a winner too.

Anyone have any experience with either of these phones?? Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm interested.

I paid $40 for MDR-EX52SL-original Sony RRP here was $89 (still a current model in Australia).
