New Member Introductions thread

So, I'm not a "new" member per se, as I subscribed over a year ago. However, I really only read content on the site, and rarely post. However, I want to start posting more, including the classified. Firstly, I can't figure out how to change my profile picture. When I went to add a photo to my album, it said I had insufficient privledges. Any tips?

I think we get access to that after making a few posts

I am still in somewhat of a state of disbelief in how much a good DAC and good headphones turn music into a real bona fide experience. It's as if the Dac is picking up otherwise lost music coding 0s and 1s into a much more rich accurate signal. hmmmmmm I am using a Marantz Dac 1 and Focal Elears. Still looking for words to describe........

Hey folks

Four weeks in, and I have bought:
Meier Corda Stepdance
RWAK100s (to arrive)
Beinje K9
Triad Audio L3 (to arrive)

Have since found out, HDTracks don't sell Hi Res Audio to New Zealand. Neither does Acoustic Sounds.
Any suggestions where I can go to get some tracks?

And, darn, the albums are expensive.
Any alternatives?

It seems that 7digital.com does. I heard about them a couple of weeks ago from a thread on reddit (either /r/headphones /r/vinyl or /r/audiophile, don't remember which). They do have a New Zealand store (nz.7digital.com) but I have no idea whether it's 44/16 or higher res since (a) I'm in the US, and (b) I haven't actually bought anything from them yet.

Thanks DancingBlue

Have looked at 7digital.
Most of their music that I saw was either MP3 or 16bit/44.1kHz.

Looking for 24/192, or 24/96 if not available.

Ah, ok. I just poked around the US store a little and they do have some higher res FLAC albums, so I guess not for NZ

I need some advice please.
I'm guessing this forum operates on a 'high trust' model.

Have bought a headphone amp from a Head-Fi member.
I paid US$300 via Paypal on the 27th Oct.
He said he would post on 1st Nov, due to lack of funds.

I asked on the 2nd Nov how shipping went.
On the 3rd he said he'd keep me posted.

It's now the 6th Nov, with no further contact.

What do you suggest?

I would flag the post and tell what happened, Im sure a Moderator or Adminastrator would be able to help you out. Did the person you bought it from have a good trader score?

Doesn't paypal provide buyer protection in case something goes wrong like this?
https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/I-didn%E2%80%99t-receive-the-item-I-purchased-or-it%E2%80%99s-different-from-the-description.-FAQ1344

That is unless you sent the money as a gift which you should never do as it offers you zero protection
