Well, this'll make my choice for my next headphone kinda hard.

Got my new M-Stage here. Was planning on buying denon DX000's to go with it as a step up from M50's. Would the SQ when using planars such as the new HE-400 with the M-Stage be completely inadequate seeing what planars generally are capable of? Because if not, this will make the choice between say D5000 and the HE-400 pretty hard.

I'm thinking of switching over to a planar. I'm curious how this compares to the HE-4. Why doesn't Audeze put out more budget friendly models?

Small company, slow development cycle, and it's more prestigious to rip people off.

Hifiman is a small company too.... but they are Chinese. How the **** do they manage their R&D?

Well, if the first gen HE-300's wild frequency is any indication, by making a driver and sticking it in the same cups they use for all their other headphones.

And by sticking gold in their driver to make it extra shiny or something.

See, it's okay, I'm mean to every manufacturer.

Well, at least they managed to fix it with a second iteration!  Sort of, anyway.  Whatever the case, if people [here] like it, I guess that's all that really matters.

Interested to see how this compares to the HE-500 though.  They said they found a better way to mass produce the drivers, I'm wondering if this means lower quality?  It could even mean higher quality depending on what they mean by this.

Why is everyone wanting comparisions between these and the HE-500s instead of the HE-4s? Do you guys know something I don't?
