I was looking in getting a new speaker system but have opted to get some new headphones instead.
 
I have heard that Grado headphones have a unique sound, I need something different than my M50's
 
The reason I am getting these headphones is for home listening. These are my two headphones I'm looking at
 
-Allesandro 09 MS1
-Grado Sr125
 
I'm really looking for the Grado sound so I don't want suggestions for other brands. Can I have some help on choosing between the MS1 and SR125.
 
Will I become addicted to the Grado sound

It's hard to know before you try them, but they are a pretty special brand.
 
I had the 125i, and they sounded great with rock, especially acoustic rock.  They are less impressive with classical, and anything with deep heavy bass lines.

That's exactly what I heard. I heard also the MS1's are between the SR80's and the SR125's

Also do I need a amp for the MS1's?

Any headphone would benefit from amps, but MS1s do not require one to sound great. Of the cans I've tried and including in canjam, I have to say, I still really miss my MS1s. Perhaps it is nostalgia since they were my first cans, but I really enjoyed them.
 
OTOH, I didn't like some of the Grados.
