I was seriously going for the TH-610 but the massdrop TH-X00 Purplehearts look just too lovely to ignore.  The only downside is there are not expected to ship till August.  My Philips X2's will certainly hold my attention till then.  Looking forward to comparing the sound signature of these two hps.

Th-610 has detachable cable though. I think that's a nice feature.

And since they used the same connector's as HD-600/650 the cable will be easier to find
The cost of the X00 + detachable cable mod is likely to still be cheaper than the TH610.

+1, if you can DIY the cost of SMC connectors is $15 a pair.

I think TH-610 will sound different, probably better than TH-X00. Besides by doing cable mod, you will void warranty.

I think these new cans will sound something closer to that Denon sound between the AH-D5000 and the D7000s. They have to somehow distinguish their own cans to the "limited" series from Massdrop. The short 1.2mt detachable cable will be of course another plus. ☺

Why not just a refinement of the regular th600?  Would seem likely considering the naming and the impressions of the th900 mk2.
