I found this today. It is a modular DAC/preamp/can amp. Four digital inputs include; USB, Coax, Optical, XLR. It has single ended and balanced outputs. The modular DAC daughter board design allows you to swap DAC chip boards to customize your sound. It uses two 9v wallwart power supplies.

What it sounds like I do not know, but if anyone gets one I would love to hear what your impressions are. The only thing it is missing for me is a single ended analog input to allow me to use an outboard CD player of higher quality.

A cd player of higher quality would have a digital out anyway. Unless the dac in the cd player is better there is no point in using an analog out. Here is another dac and headphone amp/ pre amp. Not a single chasis though.

That is the point. The source I am looking at right now is a Modwright Denon 3910 which is one of the best in the world and I would definately not use the digital out. I am more interested in this as a preamp first, headamp next, and DAC last for my computer and cheapo DVD player. I would not be surprized if the preamp function of this piece would rival more expensive and complicated preamps. I mainly want a simple and cheap preamp for one or two sources. If it has a descent headamp, all the better. The DAC in this is merely a bonus for my needs. If anyone has any suggestions on a preamp like this, let me know. So far, the Presonus Central Station looks like the chief contender.
