A new HUD-DX1 has been released by audinst for a very long time.
The product already got good reviews in Korea.
It has USB, RCA and Optical In/Out. It supports 32bit 384kHz, DXD/DSD native.

Now, they begin a pre-order 25% off on from Oct. 22 to Nov. 2. 2015.

I don't know why, but this DAC/amp is left out of sight. But it's a really nice device. So, to begin with, my video with first impressions

My 5 cents about DX1 http://www.head-fi.org/products/audinst-hud-dx1-white/reviews/14989

Thank you for the review!

I was going to buy an JDS Labs The Element, but now I'm confused because there are so many great products in this price range, haha! :)

I'm trying to figure out if it's going to be a good pairing with a Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro (250ohms) and AKG K712 or it's best suited for other type of headphones.

I know your feeling. I've also tested both The Element and DX1, and they both are really good. To my ears Element sounds a bit more analytical and neutral, while DX1 have more "energetic" sound. But they both are really good to my ears.

I've been playing around with the DX1 for a little while now, the big plus of it IMO is that you can roll its opamps, feed it an external linear PSU and also a USB PSU while you're at it as its XMOS chip is bus-powered. Long story short, its 6120 headamp cripples its DAC output potential but once fully pimped and fed to a proper external headamp it sounds seriously fantastic. I'll try to post impressions in the coming days

One hell of a bargain for those who snatched the 25% off preorder if you ask me.

Agreed, I may have already said this in my review but I think they have really hit a wall with the TPA6120A2. It's a solid headphone driver for what it is but at this point the DAC has evolved enough to need something better. If they ever come out with a DX2 in a few years it absolutely MUST have an improved headphone stage to keep my interest.

You can fairly easily make DX1 sound both energetic and analytical so get it done I'd say: http://www.head-fi.org/t/801083/

jumpa Yo've asked the same question in comments under my review, but I'll answer here. I'm using DX1 with replaced opamp (Supreme Sound OA), and I like it's musical and a bit smoothed representation. While DACPortable is more detailed and neutral, it's more depend on your headphones and quality of music, as it doesn't add coloration. So, it's up to you, which sound you'd like to get
Also, DACPortable is a bit less comfortable in desktop usage, as you need to take care about battery.
