The title.

Just looking for a neutral portable amp that can run from the lineout or whatever it's called on the bottom of my ipod classic 7G.

Also, should I be looking for a DAC/AMP and surpassing the onboard DAC on my ipod?

Thanks. Your input is appreciated.

Unfortunately I did not see this post before...
Anyway, I am still using my iPod Classic with two amps that are my favorite.
The most neutral Is the Meier Audio Corda Quickstep, lovely little amp. It sounds very clean, detailed without being harsh at all.
The other one Is probably the One I really prefer is the Alo Audio Continental V5, but is not neutral like the Meier Corda.
Connection is through a Alo Audio cable.
I also used a Centrance Mini M8 DAC/amp but honestly the result is not at the same level than the above amps.
I experienced a real improvememt from an iPod/amp combo with a Cypher Labs Solo R DAC + amp, but then it's huge stack...probably out of time these days. Nevertheless it sounds really good into any headphone/iem combination.
As of today I am using iPod+Alo CV5 and the Campfire Audio Honeydew, great sound indeed!
Maybe even if my comment comes late it will be useful... 🙂
