What I currently have
-Astro A50's

What I am looking for is a pair of headphones for gaming one with a mic would be nice or a mic attachment or something or a standing mic.
Anyway, I have been looking for a set for gaming and music mostly I want good positional audio for big survivor games like H1Z1 and for sound whoring in games like call of duty and battlefield. I am using a Asus Z97-A motherboard what would I need for a good setup? Message me if you have any questions.
Also I like, to listen to hip hop, rap, classic rock. Thanks again.

Budget?

In the meantime, you might want to look at the headphones reviewed in this gaming guide: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-2-17-2015-x2-partial-evshrugs-x7-review-added

Alright my budget is around 100-500$
I am looking for a gaming headset for the most part I usually listen to music while I play depending whats games.
I play FPS's and mostly a lot of survival games where I need to hear what is around me and distinguish where sounds are coming from. I am going to need a sound card, dac and amp, I have done some research and what I have been looking at so far is:

-DT 770 200-300$
-AD700X 180$
or
-AKG Q701 320$ (only really considering this if it really really good at overall for music and gaming).
-DAC / AMP, so far been looking at the Schiit Audio stack the Magni 2 and Modi 2
-I'm still trying to figure out what soundcard but I've seen good reviews on Asus Xonar's question would be should I get a 7.1 or 5.1 does it make a big difference?

I am looking for more suggestions as this is my first real audio purchase and I want to make sure it is money well spent.

For good position audio, you definitely want a sound card's DSP for virtual surround.

If you got the Modi 2 Uber, which has optical input, you can connect it to the Xonar DG or DGX, which has Dolby Headphone. Because the Modi will be acting as the DAC, you don't have to have an expensive sound card. So Modi 2 Uber, Magni, and Xonar DG.

For less money, the Xonar DX + the Magni would be a good choice.

For best positional audio, open headphones have the better sound stage.

If you want deep bass extension for hip hop and rap, then the AD700X and Q701 are not a good choice. The DT880 or DT990 would be better (and better than the DT770 which are closed headphones).

Where do you like? Q701 are usually available where I am for ~ $200. The DT990s are currently on sale at Adorama after rebate for $120 after rebate: http://slickdeals.net/f/7674628-beyerdynamic-dt-990-pro-250ohm-open-headphones-120-after-35-rebate-free-shipping

I live in Canada, Ontario the reason i had chosen the AD  700X was I heard it had a crazy sound field so how are the sound field on the dt 880 or 990 and what one of those two would you choose?
The DT 990 is around 330 here in canada off amazon looks like a decent deal off of the site you linked looking at about 70-120$ shipping though so roughly 250-300$ with tax

Yes. The AD700X would be fantastic for gaming, and very poor for hip hop and rap if you like sub bass with your music.

DT880 is a bit more neutral than DT990, which will have a bit of bass emphasis and some treble emphasis.

Alright so I'm looking at the DT990s on the site you linked so around 300 dollars i beleive.
A Xonar DGX 5.1 Sound card is a good choice correct?
The Modi 2 UBER and should the Magni 2 be UBER aswell?
Also what cables would I need?

No. The Magni 2 does not need to be Uber. The primary advantage of the Magni 2 Uber is pre-amp outs for if you want to hook up powered speakers or a speaker amp.

And yes. You can use the Dolby Headphone virtual surround from the DGX with the Modi 2 Uber.

I use these:
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030301&p_id=5437&seq=1&format=2
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021814&p_id=5346&seq=1&format=2

You just connect the USB cable from your computer to the DAC, then the two RCA cables from the DAC to the amp.
