I have XB-1000 and it is NICE to say the least. With bassy songs it shakes your head

.
And if treble is waht you are looking for then 1000s will lack that sharpness. But then again you can't have really bassy 'phones with sharp treble. Or so I've understood. Correct me if I am wrong.
Cheap doesn't always mean bad.

I wouldnt discount the xb cause of their price. They are worth a lot more to their owners imo. From your description you cant go wrong with the hfi-580 either. They have more than enough bass and imo you cant get better sq unamped.

the 770 pro 80s have hefty bass if you put a little power behind em.  much more so than the 990
