Hey, I've been a lurker on this forum for a long long time! I want to ask for some advice on purchasing a desktop amp for my HD650s with a double helix cable. I'm currently using a Porta Corda Mark II! Old school as it is, it still sounds like it can drive the HD650s.
Would it be that much of a difference to buying a tube amp for the HD650s? I'm looking to spend around $300-$400 for one. If the difference is small between getting another amp over the Porta Corda Mk II then I probably won't go for it. It seems the porta corda have some warmth to the sound but it still feels like I'm missing something.
Setup currently: foobar2000 -> srs audio sandbox -> Realtek Onboard HD Audio (Asus p6t) -> porta corda mk 2 -> hd650
