speaking from materials used, and with no consideration for price I'd say ALO audio has the Y splitter you're looking for.

For bang for the buck, you might consider Blue Jean Cables, but I still feel its a tad overpriced next to a DIY build. You may also want to check the For Sale forums, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there happy to build this for you.

Honestly though, for the money, (if you're willing to spend money on the ALO audio cable) I think you should be using a external DAC, at which you'll need an optical or USB cable to connect from you iMac to the DAC, and then interconnects. You'll get a MUCH higher quality of sound, at potentially the same price.

EDIT: Got a price range?

Thanks Xan

The blue Jeans Cable might be what I'm looking for right now. For the moment I need something quick and of decent build.

Eventually I'm going to be looking for an optical cable to hook up my Theta Digital, DS Pre Gen 2 from my iMac if thats even possible. The Theta uses an AT&T optical out.
