Here are instructions from Edwood.

I am attempting to host it via a trackerless Azureus BitTorrent network. I am seeding right now.

1. Download the files here:
"trailer", Medium Res / Lower Bandwidth WMV (44.1MB): http://photo.head-fi.org/data/500/he...railer_wmv.asf
"trailer", Higher Res / Higher Bandwidth MP4 (h.264): http://www.cat.pdx.edu/~bryantd/tmp/...er.mp4.torrent

"products", Medium Res / Lower Bandwidth WMV: http://photo.head-fi.org/data/500/he...oducts_wmv.asf
"products", Higher Res / Higher Bandwidth MP4 (h.264): coming soon

"panel discussion", Medium Res / Lower Bandwidth WMV: http://www.cat.pdx.edu/~bryantd/tmp/...el.wmv.torrent
"panel discussion", Higher Res / Higher Bandwidth MP4 (h.264): coming soon

2. Rename ".asf" to ".torrent" (without the paranthesis)

3. If you don't already have Azureus, download it here:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Azureus is Java based, so you may have to download a Java client like Sun's Java.
http://java.sun.com/downloads/

4. Once Azureus is installed, updated, and working, just drag and drop the "headfi_natlmeet_trailer_wmv.torrent" file into Azureus window.

If you are unsure how to use or configure Azureus, please go here: http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ And click on "How To" -> your operating system of choice.

If you finished downloading, I ask if you can continue to seed. Posting on a webserver will eat up a lot of your bandwidth and could also mean less people sharing the file via distributed sharing. So ultimately we're better off using distributed downloading in the long run.

thanks

Don't want to or can't use bittorrent? Download off a mirror. Check out tkam's mirror further down this thread (http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showp...70&postcount=4) or my mirror (http://www.veniogenesis.com/head-fi/).

The following files have been uploaded and ready to be downloaded:

1. "trailer", Medium Res / Lower Bandwidth WMV (44.1MB)
2. "products", Medium Res / Lower Bandwidth WMV (143 MB)

New: 3 ."questions and answers session", Medium Res / Lower Bandwidth WMV (183 MB)

Cheers,
Venio

I am seeding the torrent on a high bandwidth connection and will probably continue to do so for at least a couple weeks. I will do the same for the following videos.

I may also post a web mirror later if it is needed.

Cheers!

I'm still seeding via Azureus BitTorrent, and I've uploaded over 104mb so far, so it's got to be working for some people.

BTW, the way that BitTorrent works is like this:

Imagine you want to pass a copy of a 500 page novel you've just written to a bunch of friends.

Instead of passing the pages, one at a time, very quickly to one person at a time. You pass a few pages, here and there to several people simultaneously.

This is slow at first, but after some time, a few others will have all 500 pages of your novel, and are handing out pages as well. People that have incomplete novels can still hand out pages to others that they already have. The more people that have some pages, the faster others will get them.

Basic terminology.

Seed/Seeder = Uploading
Leeching = Downloading (sometimes without sharing/uploading)
Peers = what it sounds like, other BT clients you are connected to.

So, even if you are done downloading the complete file, please leave the torrent running. Otherwise, it will continually remain slow. The more people we have seeding, the faster it will be.

***Please keep this thread about the National Meet Videos. No other discusssions about file sharing will be discussed here unless they relate directly to sharing the National Meet Videos and other related media. I will not answer PM's regarding non National Meet Video BitTorrents as well.

Thanks for the vid (41 meg one)... is it just that my monitor is gradually failing (which I think is the case) or is the video a bit on the dark side?

Yeah the video is a little dark. It is a bit hard shooting indoor with cameras without flash or lighting. But we're on the Dark Side of the Moon!

I think it's a slow motion sequence that Lan did. Yeah, it's a bit choppy.

Otherwise, good editing job on such a quick turn around.
