After having several headphones recommended to me last week, I've had little success narrowing down my choices.

My choices are between:

Audio-Technica ATH-M50
JVC HARX900
Superlux HD 681
Audio Technica ATH-A700
Audio Technica ATH-AD700 - ^not sure of the differences between the two
AKG Acoustics K-240

I am planning on using my  headphones for listening to music, playing my electric guitar, and for gaming (both PC and Xbox 360)

Music i listen to is mostly Rock, and bands like Dire Straits, the Beatles, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
For the guitar ... I guess the headphones have to come with, or be compatible with a 1/4in input (?)
And for gaming, I guess PC is pretty simple.  But for my 360 I am not really sure what I will need. USB connections I guess? Microphone problems?

If anyone could offer any input that would be great!
Thanks, Matt

I would look into Grado if I was you. Depending on your genre choices, Grado would be the way to go. But for gaming, not the best.

Ad700 are great for gaming but fall short for music.
Difference of A700 is that the A is closed and better for music.

Go for the A700 or M50's. A700 if gaming and music are top picks, M50's if you would like a portable full sized.

Heya,

Budget? Because I'm thinking AKG K701. Get a Fiio D3 (optical/SPDIFF DAC) -> FiiO E9 amplifier -> AKG K701. Covers your gaming, covers your rock and stuff easily too.

Very best,

Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the K701 more to the classical/jazz side of music genres?

For the music, Grado's/Alessandro's for sure.

Gaming and Guitar playing? Go for a neutral. So. . .MDR-V6? (maybe the M50's).

Overall? I'll say the V6 or the M50's.
