Just a quick question - I remember reading that the MZ-N1 MD unit had a "design-defective optical block." Does the MZ-R910 (which, if I'm correct, is from the same era) share this problem?

It hasn't seemed to have been a problem, but then again, the N1 was much more widely distributed (Asia, North America, Europe). The R910 I believe is a Japanese-only unit, so it is not like as many people have had it to test it against the N1. At this point though, I'm sure it's a fine unit. It's been out for a year or two now.

The R910 wasn't a big seller as it was sort of drowned out in the sea of Net MD units, but I've yet to hear about any troubles. My R910 is going strong after about 18 months......I hope Sony will still make MZ-R9xx series recorders, but the demand seems minimal.
