Ah, I need to update my profile. I no longer have the SHA-1.
There were a couple of things which made me keep the Max over the SHA-1.
I listen to headphones exclusively at work, my cubicle couldn't really handle a 19" rackmount amp.
The Beyerdynamic DT931 is my can of choice, it works better with the Max than the SHA-1 imo.
My second can is the V6, it also matches up better with the Max imo.

Ah, from my experiences that would make sense... seeing as how both those headphones are rather bright, and the Max was kinda dark, I thought. Anyway, just my thoughts on the subject... but the Max would certainly tame a bright headphone...

Oops, forgot to address this. Those two big grey cylinders behind the right headphone jack are actually capacitors which are used in the pre-amp circuit.
