Audio Technica's ES7.

I think Im the second HeadFi'er to own one. (I think the first one is Sasaki, although its quite possible Alex has one already

)

Some Quick Impressions:
No bright sibilance-prone highs like the HD25.
Isolation is very low for a closed can. I was able hear the announcements on the train ride home, which the ath-Pro700 and HD25-1 usually blocks out. No leakage though.

Now aging time.
Pics! Sorry for the crappy quality.

Side Shot. Notice the Right cup on the right side when the driver is facing down, which means when wearing around the neck, the drivers open outwards. Grr.

Front Shot. Notice the camera in the reflection.

Hey man, cool cans! So how does it compare to the H25-1? I think you know I wasn't that thrilled with the H25-1, just sonically it sounded kind of muddy on the lower end and the tonal balance seemed out of whack. I did like the overall performance level, but the sonic signature was just too far from what I like. I do like the ES5's sonic signature, but it's performance level is too low for me.

Heh, so should I try the ES7?

Best,

-Jason

I second the "smaller than I thought they would be" statements. I've already said this in chat, but I can't wait to hear your impressions on them. I think it would just be rad if AT finally got the sound of their big cans into a portable package!

They are, from left to right,

audio-technica ATH-ES7;
audio-technica ATH-PRO700; and
Sennheiser HD25-1 with HD600 stock cable replacement.

(they're listed in his profile, btw)

Best,

-Jason

That price is apparently correct, and has history here

Back on topic - if these things sound like they look, they will be mine... oh yes.

So wouldn't it be good if i ordered the drivers, and earpads and get AUdio Technica to get me a pair of replacement cups and headbands?

Anything of limited/hard to replace stock is likely reserved for servicing phones that come in.
